A class action lawsuit filed against WWE and ESPN

A class action lawsuit filed Thursday alleges that WWE and ESPN engaged in deceptive marketing related to the transition of WWE’s PLEs to ESPN’s direct-to-consumer streaming platform.

The lawsuit argues that some fans who already receive ESPN through cable or other providers were nonetheless required to pay an extra monthly fee to watch WWE events.

According to the plaintiffs, this requirement conflicts with promotional messaging from WWE and ESPN, which they say implied that all existing ESPN subscribers would automatically have access to the PLEs.
