WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley has shared a highly encouraging health update following a dedicated effort to improve his physical condition. Foley has successfully lost around 90 to 100 pounds which has led to dramatic improvements in his mobility and overall quality of life.
Foley's decision to embark on a rigorous weight loss journey was driven by critical health concerns stemming from years of high-impact wrestling. He described himself as being a
"heart attack waiting to happen"
and had lost much of his strength, making simple daily tasks difficult. The original goal was ambitious—to lose 80 pounds—which he later surpassed, at one point dropping to a low of 273 lbs. He is currently maintaining a stable weight around 275-280 lbs.
Foley's progress is attributed to a combination of medical intervention and discipline
The most crucial step in Foley's recovery was undergoing necessary surgical procedures that allowed him to move without debilitating pain.
He credits hip and knee replacements as a major turning point, as they corrected skeletal damage caused by his career, including the infamous Hell in a Cell match and countless other severe bumps.
The surgeries laid the groundwork for him to pursue exercise and an active lifestyle, stating
"I now walks better than I did 15 years ago"
Foley also, credits DDP Yoga as he has consistently utilized the program developed by fellow wrestler Diamond Dallas Page. Most recently, he has used public weigh-ins and updates on his own YouTube channel to maintain accountability with his fans, seeing their support as crucial to his consistency.
While getting healthier, Foley has, at times, teased the possibility of one final match—a "deathmatch" to celebrate his 60th birthday. However, he has also acknowledged the physical impossibility and high risk involved, particularly given his recent hip and knee replacements. Ultimately, his success in regaining his health, improving his mobility, and enjoying a significantly higher quality of life remains the most important and inspiring achievement. Keep up thw great work Mick! We here at AFW want you around for many more years!
