National Wrestling Hall of Fame Gets Some Stratusfaction

Updated: Jul 27, 2022

Trish Stratus received a huge honour this weekend as she became only the 2nd woman to be inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.

Already a WWE Hall of Famer, the former 7-time WWE Women’s Champion took her place on a national scale. She was also the 1st woman to ever receive The Lou Thesz Award, recognizing those in the professional wrestling industry who have used their skills in the realm of public service

"Glamazon" Beth Phoenix became the 1st woman to be inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2019. She had previously been awarded the Frank Gotch Award in 2015.

Stratus wrote

"This weekend I will be inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum & I will proudly receive The Lou Thesz Award. I am the first female to do so & I am beyond thankful to the committee for opening their eyes – & the wing to women in our sport!

It’s a dream of breaking glass ceilings instead of wearing glass slippers kinda moment & I’m here for it!"

Despite officially retiring in 2006, Trish has appeared on a number of occasions for WWE, last appearing in a the ring when she faced Charlotte Flair in a Summerslam losing effort. She also was in the 1st Women’s Royal Rumble Match in 2018 & took part in the Evolution pay-per-view, that same year.
