The wrestling world is buzzing after former WWE superstar Ridge Holland (Luke Menzies) candidly expressed his disappointment and financial anxieties following his release from the WWE. Holland, whose contract was not renewed after he sustained a severe Lisfranc foot injury while working a TNA event on WWE's behalf, held nothing back in a shocking statement that has resonated deeply with fans and fellow performers.
Holland's frustration stems from a stark reality: he's injured, unable to work for the foreseeable future, and now without the financial security of a WWE contract.
"I never thought I'd not be able to pay my mortgage,"
Holland revealed, painting a grim picture of his current predicament. The timing of his non-renewal, knowing he wouldn't be cleared to wrestle for an estimated seven months, has left him feeling abandoned.
"I feel like I've just been hung out to dry after getting injured working for another company on behalf of WWE. Add to that, that my contract not being renewed knowing that I wouldn't be able to wrestle for 7 months. This is brutal."
While acknowledging WWE is covering his surgery and physical therapy, Holland was quick to point out that this is merely the baseline.
"Yes they are taking care of the surgery and physical therapy but let's be honest, that's the bare minimum after what we sacrifice for the company."
The emotional and physical toll is clearly immense, compounded by the grim possibility of yet another serious procedure. Holland continued,
"Plus the possibility of having to get my neck fused too."
In a raw summation of his feelings, Holland didn't mince words:
"Talk about getting totally fucked."
This powerful statement shines a harsh light on the often-overlooked struggles of professional wrestlers, particularly when faced with career-altering injuries and the contractual uncertainties of the business. It's a stark reminder that beneath the bright lights and thrilling performances, real people face real challenges.
